CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHETHER AKI AND SEITETSU’s RELATIONSHIP IS SUPPOSED TO BE ROMANTIC OR NOT??? Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adore that akisei are finally getting together, and I find the idea of aki with her parent/mentor figure to be gross and inappropriate. It’s just hard, because I think in the end seitetsu loved her like a daughter, at least it was ambiguous enough to interpret that way.

But aki? I mean TECHNICALLY she never thinks that she loved seitetsu in a specifically romantic way, but it sure is assumed and implied, but it also just doesn’t make sense. I just don’t see how she only suddenly develops feelings for her teacher figure right after that figure is taken away. And then, once seitetsu is dead, she doesn’t act like she’s mourning a lover. (Well I guess it isn’t totally confirmed for her that seitetsu is dead but she knew a long time ago).

And, these are just my personal feelings, but GOD the pairing itself just icks me out. Her mother was the woman seitetsu supposedly loved, so how could he view her own daughter, who he taught and raised, as anything other than his own? And, okay, I can excuse aki getting a teenaged puppy crush on seitetsu and combining that with the true platonic love and affection she’s always held, but it’s still feels weird and somehow demeaning to me. Not to mention the whole ‘now love interest is her own daughter’ angle from seitetsu’s side that feels so predatory and disgusting.

Anyways, maybe I should have tried to vet my reading choices more, but gosh it was just so hard to find anything about this manga online. What’s up with that anyways? For the most part, this is a really good manga that is criminally underappreciated. Well, I think I’ll just keep living in delusion and perform mental gymnastics to somehow justify aki’s love as a daughter’s or a student’s love. And keep reading of course, this thing has me hooked. Also sorry if this rant is super long and unhinged, I just have a lot of feelings lol.
